Service Pack 8 contains a number of important fixes as well as some enhancements.
Miscellaneous Fixes and Updates: a number of important fixes and
updates have been included in the ServicePack. These are, for the most part, fairly
minor in scope and impact. For a complete list describing each of these updates,
referto the Issue List.
Support for Promotional Mail Server Specification:
Many hosts, including StoreFront Hosting, prefer for clients to use a
different mail server for their bulk e-mail than for regular business-
critical e-mail traffic. The StoreFront Promotional Mail tool now provides
support for the input of an optionally different promo mail server. Please
contact your host to determine if you should use a distinct server for
promotional mail.
Modified session handling:
StoreFront’s session handling was updated to provide enhanced security.
As part of this change, the webID that is used to maintain a shopper’s
session when navigating between the secure and non-secure areas of the
web store is now used only once -- in other words, when a user clicks on
a link that appends the webID, that webID is consumed and the user is
given a new webID. Previously a single shopper would be issued a webID
that was used throughout their shopping session. For developers, this
is an important change. However, average merchants should see no change
in user experience.
Improved Debugging for Support: Changes have been
made that make it possible for StoreFront or its partners to compile the
StoreFront website files in debug mode. Running in debug mode can
have serious consequences to a website including slower performance and
increased security risk, and is therefore not recommended for the
average merchant. However, by running the site in debug mode,
previously generic error messages will now yield more information to
identify more quickly the source of any errors encountered.
