Getting Started

Requirements

In order to successfully run StoreFront 6.0 you must have the proper .NET components installed and correctly configured. In order to help make the experience of using StoreFront 6.0 as trouble free as possible we have assembled the following .NET resources for use by our customers. Please note: You must be able to successfully run the following tests prior to requesting support related to server configuration from StoreFront.

  1. System and Server Requirements:

    Unlike Classic ASP, additional system and server setup is required to build and deploy .Net applications. Review the following requirements to ensure that your computer is equipped with the necessary components

    In order to install and build StoreFront web stores, you’ll need the following:

    • Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP Home and Professional, NT 4.0 or .NET Server
    • Internet Explorer 5.01 or later
    • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
    • Microsoft FrontPage 2002 and 2003 or Dreamweaver MX and MX 4
    • 64MB RAM
    • 30MB Hard Disk Space

    In order to run an ASP.Net web, the following are required:

    • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (SP 2 recommended), Microsoft Windows 2000 Server (SP 2 recommended), Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Windows .NET Server Family
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later
    • Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1
    • Microsoft SQL Server 7 or SQL Server 2000 (required for SQL Server database support)
    • Microsoft Data Access Components 2.7
    • Internet Information Services (IIS) version 5.0 or later
    • Compatible E-mail Component (CDONTS, CDOSYS, ASPEMail, ASPMail, ASPQMail, Jmail, SimpleMail, ABMail, or the Default .NET Mail class (System.Web.Mail.SmtpMail class))
    • SMTP Service
    • SSL Security

  2. Download the .NET framework

    This Microsoft resource will allow you to download the required .NET framework as well as provide you with other background information and troubleshooting resources relative to the installation and proper operation of the .NET framework. Note that the .NET framework is required for the installation of both the StoreFront 6.0 client and the StoreFront 6.0 web application.
