StoreFront 6 Service Pack 8

Recurring Billing Integration

As part of Service Pack 7, support has been added for products that are billed in multiple increments. These often include subscription products or items with service fees that are billed periodically. For an annual newspaper subscription, for example, a merchant might bill the subscriber $5.00 a month for 12 months. To communicate these recurring charges to the shopper, a merchant can configure the Recurring Payment Options for a product. Then, the merchant can elect to display the Subscription Price and Period on their Catalog and Product Pages (example: $5.00/Monthly). Merchants can also configure the label displayed for the Subscription Price. A Price can still be charged for the product. This might be used to collect a setup fee.

Merchants who are processing payments using VeriSign payment gateway services, can elect to have the recurring payment automatically setup within their VeriSign recurring billing system. In this case, any upfront charges will be passed to the VeriSign payment gateway services for processing and a separate recurring payment will be setup within the VeriSign recurring billing system.

For merchants processing with another gateway or who are processing credit cards offline, the Subscription Price and Period can be displayed to the shopper, but the recurring payment must be initiated manually.

The context-based help files accessed through the Merchant Tools have also been updated to record the new functionality. Refer to the help files for more information.
